•Sunday•Unlike most of my past birthdays I didn't get sick this year. Most I got was a headache I was able to contain with Aleve.
I went into the city Friday afternoon to meet Kat in Times Square. She needed to borrow some money. It was surprisingly nice. She didn't drive me nuts. Claws were retracted. I think it's so much better when we barely see each other. I was actually ...I was actually smiling with her. I think I might've even laughed. We had coffee and sat and talked a little. Nothing heavy. When it started getting that way I made her stop. I can't deal with heavy around her right now. Same goes for Mom.
Met up with Ariel after coffee with Kat. Waited a while with her to see if we could spot Eninem. We didn't. And we were starving. And the tourists, teeny boppers and touristy teeny boppers were driving me mad. Left Times Square and went downtown. I had a couple hours to kill before I had to meet Gary. We did a little shopping and then headed over to View. Gary wasn't there yet and we still hadn't eaten. Called him up. He was stuck in traffic and not even in the city yet. We were supposed to have dinner but I didn't really have lunch so I cheated and had a grilled cheese sandwich with Ariel. As we were leaving, this guy came into the diner wearing a shirt exactly like mine.
"Nice shirt," my eyes narrowed as I passed him.
Took him a few seconds before looking down at his shirt, looking at mine and laughing.
"Does yours move to the right too?"
Yes! What's with that?!"
We laughed and said goodbye.
Gary showed up not too long after Ariel and I got back over to View. He looked spaced. Result of the traffic no doubt. Ariel disappeared after introductions and Gary and I went off to find a place to eat. I think he was somewhat nervous with Ariel there because he pulled me to him and kissed me soon after she left. Since I had that sandwich just a few minutes before he showed up, I really wasn't hungry.
"You ate? How could you?"
"I couldn't wait. I'm sorry. Ariel and I didn't really have lunch," was my reply.
"But I can't sit and eat now if you're not eating."
"Ok, I'll order something light. It was just small sandwich ....and a couple of fries," I smiled.
The longer we stood talking about where to eat the cuter Gary got. We ended up having a very nice dinner at Viceroy. Seated in a cosy corner. Our knees rubbed against each other. I had to scan the menu for what I thought would be the smallest meal. Salmon. We pretty much came back to my place after dinner. Parking wasn't as bad.
He had more boxes that I expected him to. All presents were open. Smiles and kisses exchanged. I like the way we talk in bed. Just about stuff. Every now and then leaning in to kiss.
"Happy birthday," he whispered. "It's already midnight."
I looked over my shoulder at my new alarm clock (which I desperately needed), then back over to him and smiled. The first few hours of my birthday were spent in Gary's arms. It was nice.
We took forever to get out of bed Saturday morning. Falling back under the covers every time we said we should get up and shower. Gary had to get to work. Had breakfast at this diner over at the Galaxy. He dropped me off and went off back to Connecticut. I spent pretty much the rest of the day just lounging around the apartment.
Called Husani but didn't get him. Made plans with Ariel and Mike to hang out. We agreed to meet outside the Loews on 42nd around 7:00pm to see 'The Ring'. I called Sam as well but when didn't get him when I called back to confirm things.
It was nice with just Ariel and Mike. The weather was awesome and everyone and their step-siblings were out. If I stayed home I probably would've been the ONLY one. I met up with Mike first. I got the cutest scarf from him. White and grey striped with pockets! Ariel showed up a while later. It was a miracle I even spotted her in the passing crowds. Seriously, Times Square was hell and 'The Ring' was sold out at Loews so we decided to go downtown instead. Got tickets to the 12:20am showing. Had dinner at Cosi before the movie. We made s'mores. They bring out this wooden tray with everything you need, including this little black crock thing. They light it and you're ready to go. It was just cool doing that with honestly, two of my favorite people. Ariel hates having her picture taken. I mean ... haaaates it. I thought I was bad but she threatens to hurt you. I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I wanted to.
We sat in Union Square and talked for a while, killing time before the movie. Checked out stuff at the Virgin. I got Bjork's greatest hits. They showed some of her videos. I have to get that DVD. We walked around a bit before heading back to the theater.
The movie was ok. It really did have a few scary parts. But mostly i was just pissed off during the whole thing because these girls next to us kept screaming for every fucking thing. I mean everything. The camera moved too fast and they'd scream and actually run out of the theater. I am not joking. And what really got to me were the assholes laughing at the girls. Basically telling them it's quite alright to behave like a cunt during a movie. "I don't wanna die. They say if you see it, you die. I don't wanna die." Shut the fuck up and go watch the Britney Spears move on VHS then. Most times when people were screaming I was rolling my eyes. Especially the part when Samara walks out of the TV. I thought it was cool more than I thought scary but people were screaming at the top of their lungs. The only creepy thing about movies like that is I always run them through my head after and I always end up walking into a dark, empty apartment.
We got out around 3am. Ariel caught a cab. Mike and I headed to the subway. He told me I could spend the night at his place if I wasn't sure about getting a bus to Jersey. Hehe I think he was just scared after the movie and didn't want to go home alone. I would've gone with him but I thought about the hassle of getting up later and having to haul ass from Brooklyn to Jersey so I chanced it. There was a bus waiting right there when I got to 42nd.
