Bruce is still the same guy I knew in 8th grade. We made plans during the day and decided to meet at 6ish at this Barnes & Noble. The minute I saw him walking towards me ... all I thought about how much he was still the same.
Tall. Very tall. Dark and thin. Same smile. Bruce was ...... different than anyone else I knew in highschool. Probably what made us friends. I was different to anyone I knew in highschool.
It was just great to see him again. Last time I saw him he was paying me back 20 bucks he borrowed from me. That and swapping emails.
Hanging around with Bruce never gets boring. He always has a plan and even if he doesn't .... he'll make one up lickety-split (love saying that). We wandered around. Updating each other about our lives. We needed food. I only had one slice of extra-greasy pizza and a Snapple for lunch. I don't think Bruce HAD lunch.
McDonald's sucked. The one we went to was packed. Bruce suggested this coffee shop. Turns out its coffe shop by day ..... bar by night. After hearing five words I hate hearing .... "Can I see some ID?" .... we turned right around. We kept walking until we found this Japanese restaurant. We were only looking at the sign outside and the menu they had posted when this woman bolted out and pretty much insisted we come in.
"Try sushi? Is good. You try?"
I love sushi. I'd only had it like once before but I really liked it.
She seated us and this other very pretty girl came out. Kimono and all. Bruce stayed far away from anything raw. He told me about this girl he knew who got sick. She was Asian. He said she got sick because of the sushi. It gave her worms or something. I pretty much shrugged and ordered some tuna sushi and smoked salmon. He joked around and asked the girl what was cooked and what wasn't.
He has a lot of charm. A lot.
We talked about the rest of the gang we used to hang out with. His girlfriends .... fuckbuddies. My flings and hatred toward most of the male species now.
I missed him. I really did.
We left there and headed back to the subway. It was a little colder now. I told him more about my plans, work and whatever.
I came home feeling good. At least now I would have someone to hang out. Someone I know already. Someone who ... more importantly .... want to get me into bed.
