Today was pretty cool. Got up and headed into the city to meet Eric. We planned on hanging out at the office so I could use the CD burner. By the time I got there, it was like after 12. Keri was there with him. We sorta just said fuck it, packed the CD burner (I'll use it at home for a couple days and carry it back), figured out where we wanted to go get something to eat and left.
Uptown. The streets were empty. Eerie. Found a place for sushi. Nice place but ... weird. We walked in and there was a pigeon walking around. A pigeon ... from outside. A grungy, condor-like New York City pigeon ... walking around. Keri was quick to point it out to the waitress.
"There's a bird in here."
The waitress just nodded. We were seated, skimmed through the menu. Pigeon ... still there. It was as if we were in the some alternate universe. The waitress came over to take out orders. Keri couldn't take it anymore. None of us could.
"There's a bird. In the restaurant. Do you notice that? It's illegal to have live animals in a restaurant. They can shut you down."
And again, the waitress mainly just nodded. Then he signalled to one of the bus boys to get it outside. The whole scene was just really weird.
"Hundreds of restaurants in New York City and we have to get the one with the pigeon," said Eric.
"Did you see her reaction. She was just nodding as if to say, 'Uh huh, yeah. He's my pet. Isn't he cute?' I ... I can't take this. Let's just get everything to go. I can't eat here. I'm gonna go get across the street to get a tea. Just meet me over there," Keri got up. "That ok with you?" She looked over at me.
"Uh huh. Yah. Sure." I was in this weird daze, looking at the pigeon strut around.
We took everything and went over to Keri's apartment. Eric and I watched 'Ren & Stimpy' and other crap on TV. I miss 'Ren & Stimpy'. Seriously. They always cancel the good shows. I came home soon after that. I didn't get that check from Eric I was hoping to use to a couple things for my friends. Ranger pawed me a little on the way home.
I thought about Ross. I felt bad because I had the perfect gift in mind for him and I couldn't get it. I also thought about the sex thing. I'm glad he's not pressuring me. I mean ... not to sound like a 15 year old girl but, we kiss ... a lot ... isn't that enough? At least for now. We've talked about it. I don't want to sprint, somersault and land in bed with him. I'm better at doing a backflip anyway.
