•Sunday•Last night was awesome. It was almost midnight and I was happily playing 'Golden Sun' on my new GameBoy Advance (both of which I got Friday afternoon) when Mark opened my door and said "Get dressed."
"What?" I looked up at him.
"Get dressed. We're going out!" he wore an-'I'm not taking no for an answer'-look on his face.
"Uh ...ok but where are we going?"
"Out. Get dressed."
"You have to tell me where so I know what the hell I should put on."
"We're going to a jam session. Anything's fine."
So I got dressed in record time, saved my game, grabbed my camera and left with Mark and Laura. It's been raining all weekend and at first I felt like being firm and saying 'no'. Or more like being stupid and saying 'no'. I don't go out half as much as I probably should at my age. I blame it on my mom sometimes but really ...it's all me. And most times I bitch about whether or not I should go out and then end up raving about what a great time I had. But last night I didn't bitch at all. I was fed by the little adrenaline I already had playing 'Golden Sun' and the crisp air outside.
Got into the city and hopped in a cab to the village. We got out in front of a building that was closed and looked pretty dark to me. Then Mark bent over and grabbed the handle to the basement door. Before I knew it I was in a room with about fifteen or so people. Most playing instruments, the others (including myself) just grooving. Cute rocker boy stared at me several times throughout the night. Clearly I was looking back since I noticed. I liked his voice and the way he and this other guy just made up words while singing. For some reason I heard Avril Lavigne's song, 'Sk8r Boi' in my head every time I looked over at him.
Laura and I made a beer run there was this really awesome feeling being around her. The energy the whole night gave off slipping back underground from the rain. Several other people came down. Apparently it's very exclusive and you can clearly see why. I took a few good pictures. Tried to get a good one of cute rocker boy but he would smile at me and then start thrashing his head. Moron. Mark was awesome on guitar. I got really good pictures of him. Laura and I talked a while and shared a beer. I introduced her and Mark to Gary the other night when he came over so we talked a little about that. She said he seems really nice. I was taken back at how cool Mark was when I introduce them. He gave Gary his best Alpha-male handshake and they talked about property for a little bit while I went to the kitchen to get Gary a glass of water.
The music last night was beyond cool. And just the whole vibe everyone gave off was awesome. The tired yet genuine smiles everyone exchanged, the dancing. I talked to cute rocker boy before I left. He told me he's doing a performance next month that I should check out. He asked for my email. I wrote it down. Then he asked for my phone number. I wrote that down too. Mark, Laura and I got home around minutes to four.
